Finally some pictures of Janne from Sweeden...

So i finally stumbled on some photos of Janne in Sweden... I also found a way of always locating him... he always wears the same hat...

From an older post...

Ok, so now we have all learned a new skill, let's see if you can find janne in this picture from Sweden...
I'll post the answer next week...

Anyways moving on... here is a picture of Janne looking for directions... seriously, isn't he from Finland, i thought Finland and Sweden were like the same countries... that'd be like me getting lost in Dormont (i'm from Mount Lebanon)...

And finally, I think this is my favorite picture of janne so far... Well it would be if it were a better angle... it would be like the Janne picture of the decade...

Photos from PittsburghLive.com and Dan Potash... There are some other really entertaining pictures that are not janne related....HERE

Only a few more days Janniacs

I'm hearing through the grapevine...

John Curry is going to be assigned to Wilkes-Barre, then the last cut will come down to Bissonette, Bill Thomas and Janne.

For the life of me, I can figure out why there is even a question who will be sent down. I have seen, streamed and heard with my own eyes and ears that Bissonette just doesn't have NHL skill plain and simple. For some reason Therrien is keeping this a mystery. Bissonette does have NHL quality size at 6'3" 210 LBs. I was also told that Bissonette was a defensemen turned winger. I don't know if this is true or not, personally I don't really care. As for Curry, I'm not sure he has been given a chance to prove himself. He did have an awesome game verses Tampa Bay early. Has he been given a decent chance since. Only time will tell with our goaltending.

It's a Hockey Night in Helsinki

On Thursday the Penguins will be playing Jokerit in Helsinki at the Hartwell Arena (pictured below, it's awesome...)

So yeah, thanks to our faithful Finnish reader Obelix for this informatoin. He also told me that it will be a sold out crowd. He'll be at the game and said he's gonna try and get us some exclusive images. It seems some of the other NHL vs. European team exhibitions have been streamed in various places on the internet so if this one goes up I'll be sure to post it here.

In other news, Team Roxette won the scavenger hunt, consisting of team members Matt Cooke, Jordan Staal, Brooks Orpik, and Jeff Taffe... Their prize was an ABBA cd...

Comcast cable free Center Ice Preview

Comcast will be offering a free preview of NHL Center Ice from the 4th to the 15th of October so you out of market viewers will be able to see the pens first two games from Sweden if you are a comcast subscriber...

If we lose this weekend, this is why...

So i was checking up on the Penguins Travel blog...apparently they didn't have practice this morning...so they could go on a scavenger hunt...i'm not joking...

The Penguins had a day off from practice Tuesday, but took part in a team-building event in the afternoon. Six teams of four Penguins players each embarked on a "scavenger hunt" at 2 pm Stockholm time. The competition challenges the players to locate various landmarks throughout Stockholm and take photos. They had to navigate the city on foot or by cab, bus or boat. The team that completes the task in the shortest amount of time will be the winner. The names of the teams (with their team captains) are: H+M (Darryl Sydor), Nobel (Ruslan Fedotenko), Roxette (Matt Cooke), Bjorn Borg (Sidney Crosby), Volvo (Hal Gill) and IKEA (Mark Eaton).
Seriously... get your asses back on the ice and get ready for the game...btw, i predict team IKEA to win due to their reasonable prices and show room style stores...

BREAKING NEWS....Gonchar out for 4-6 months

ESPN NEWS is reporting Sarge will miss 4-6 months after surgery on his dislocated shoulders...

Gonch is going to be sorely missed. Here where the kids (Alex & Kris) will be thrown into the fire right off the bat. I think they will be up to the task.

Shirt proceeds will go to local charity...

I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but if we didn't here goes. after we design the shirt and put a fair value to it, Vince and I are going to sit down to decide what charity we will donate the money to. We are not going to retain any of the proceeds for our own personal use. We will select a local charity. We will also post the name of the charity. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email us. My email is kah205@comcast.net

EDIT:

We are also still in the process of theorizing and designing these shirts. If you have any ideas or think you can contribute art work or anything to our cause please contact us and we will keep you in the loop...

Pesonen skates with the second line...

From PittsburghPenguins.com Pesonen got a look skating with Malkin and Staal today, which leads me to believe that he is probably going to be sticking around:

Petr Sykora missed his second straight practice with a sore throat, but he is expected to be back on the ice Tuesday. In his absence, Janne Pesonen skated on right wing with Evgeni Malkin and
Man, I don't want Sykora to be sick or anything but I would love to see Janne skating on that line, I really think he would well with them, I hope they post some practice videos...

Janne Pesonen Fact of the Week

The golden helmet Janne wears was obtained by beating the devil in a hockey game for his soul...this was made famous in a song called "The Devil went down to Suomussalimi"

The song goes something like this...

The devil went down to Suomussalimi, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind 'cos he was way behind: he was willin' to make a deal.
When he came across this young man shootin a puck and shootin it hard.
And the devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said: "Boy let me tell you what:
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a hockey player too.
"And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
"Now you play a pretty good puck, boy, but give the devil his due:
"I bet a helmet of gold against your soul, 'cos I think I'm better than you."
The boy said: "My name's Janne and it might be a sin,
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been."

Janne you tape up your blade and shoot that puck hard.
'Cos hells broke loose in Suomussalimi and the devil deals it hard.
And if you win you get this shiny helmet made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.

The devil opened up his case and he said: "I'll start this game."
And fire flew from his fingertips as he taped up his blade.
And he pulled the stick across the ice and it made an evil hiss.
Then a team of demons joined in and it sounded something like this.
When the devil finished, Janne said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son.
"But if you'll get down to that net, right there, i'll show you how its done."

Fire on the moun, run boys, run.
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Chicken in the bread pin, pickin' out dough.
"Granny, does your dog bite?"
"No, child, no."

The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
He laid that golden helmet on the ground at Janne's feet.
Janne said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"I told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm the best that's ever been."

And he played fire on the mount, run boys, run.
The devil's in the house of the risin' sun.
Chicken in the bread pin pickin' out dough.
"Granny, does your dog bite?"
"No, child, no."

Nice to be back to hear about Pessi

Just got in from Washington, DC. I felt like I have been isolated from the rest of the world since Friday. I would like  to thank Vince for alerting me by text that that the Finnish Finsher has scored his first NHL goal. So what is all the talk about this PR move with Janne traveling to Finland? Come on,  that makes perfect  sense or has there been some talk about Janne starting the season in WB? I would imagine with the extra goalie hanging around only tells me that John Curry has made it a little difficult for Sabourin to lay claim he will be the Pens backup to Fleury. Guess I will have todo  some reading to get caught here to see what needs to be done if there are any doubts about Janne not sticking with the Pens.  If any of our Finnish following planning on attending the game this week Vince and I are would love some feedback from you guys and /or girls on the performance of our  favorite Finnish hockey player.

Pelimies in a Penguins Uniform

I found this over at the Pens Blog, but i couldn't resist playing it here...

Janne Pesonen Picture of the Week...

One of many...

Janne Survives again...

The penguins have decided to reassign Connor James and Danny Richmond, and have their 25 man roster set for their trip to Finland/Sweeden... The 25 man roster includes 1 extra goalie and 1 extra skater.

EDIT: I am hearing conflicting reports on this, that they are only carrying an extra goalie, i was under the impression that NHL rosters are 23 players, if you have any insights here please help me out.

The forwards are Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Petr Sykora, Miroslav Satan, Ruslan Fedotekno, Matt Cooke, Max Talbot, Tyler Kennedy, Pascal Dupuis, Eric Godard, Jeff Taffe, Janne Pesonen, Bill Thomas and Paul Bissonnette.
The defensemen are Brooks Orpik, Rob Scuderi, Hal Gill, Mark Eaton, Darryl Sydor, Kris Letang and Alex Goligoski.
The goaltenders are Marc-Andre Fleury, Dany Sabourin and John Curry.

This trip will be a telling trip, as I feel that the three people who are going to be competing for a spot are Pesonen, Thomas and Bissonnette... It is also unclear if Scuderi will make the team.

Edit: Here is the press release via Post-Gazette

Back to Finland...

So as of right now it seems that Janne will be returning to his native Finland to play a rival team in the SM-Liiga Jokerit... Thanks to one of our faithful Finnish readers Obelix, I was informed that the Jokes are currently losing 5-0 at the end of the 2nd period, so they probably have little to no chance against the Pens... Anyways here is another picture Obelix sent me (he actually sent me 2 but i'm saving one for the picture of the week), of Janne with Formula 1 Driver Heikki Kovalainen...

I can only assume that Janne is calling his shot for this years Stanely Cup finals...

Pens win 5-4

Here is the video highlights, Janne's goal is around the 2 min mark... and yes he does the big double fist pump...

The pens won 5-4, I didn't get a chance to watch to much of this, i listened to the first period and it seems like we were getting out worked for a bit. I saw a bootleg of Janne's goal (long story) and it looked really nice, this is defiantly gonna help out Janne's case. Bissonette started more fights and got his ass kicked again, so yeah, i'm really thinking he will need some time in the AHL, more so than the J man.

Anyways, decisions on T-shirts will come after the Europe trip because i theorize they will keep janne on the team cause they are playing Karpat's (janne's old team) rival Jokerit, and having him in finland will be a huge draw.

JANNE F'N SCORED WOOOOT!!!!!!!!!

NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA

JANNE GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!

And so it begins!!!!

Where to watch the game?

I am currently pursuing some leads on if the game will be streamed online, if i come across anything i will post it, and if anybody out there has any leads please post them in the comments or email us. Thanks

EDIT: you should be able to watch the game here

Pesonen Playing tonight...

Janne will be playing in tonight's exhibition against against the Maple Leafs. I haven't found a way to watch it yet, but if i do I will keep you updated. There is alot of speculation that the Pens will keep Janne on their roster when they goto Sweeden as a PR move, but send him to Wilkes Barre for seasoning when they get back...

Slow Penguins news day.

Yea, not much happening at the Igloo as per news. Outside of the old news of Crosby pulling on his groin, Sarge's shoulder hangin down around his elbow, Bissonnette losing a decision to Jamal Meyers. I must say tho the feed I received off the internet that Vince turned me on to was sweet. Malkin and Staal look in midseason form. Now the rumor that Boston wanting one of our young defenseman concerns me. Who,what and maybe why this trade would happen so early in the season has me thinking who, what and why is this going to happen to. My wishes for the season in no specific order are as follows. Janne makes the team, Crosby stays heathly, Malkin can do it through the playoffs this year, Fleury is exorcited of all easy and flukey goals that the NHL will send his way. Just watch Kris Latang turn into the poetry in motion that his he is. Hoping that Latang isn't that young defenseman Boston wants. Max Talbot and Matt Cooke have every oppposition hockey player looking over their shoulders and goalies looking in their nets. If Bill Thomas makes the team, just congrats on another(only the 2nd) local boy to make the Pens. Finally, I know that this was cut short with many more wishes but here is one more, that Janne Pesonen wins the Calder trophy, then scores the deciding goal against Chicago in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup finals then hoists the Holy Grail. Ok that is enough rambling for tonight. I'm off to Washington D.C. for the weekend hoping to return Sunday.

VINCES EDIT: Just to chime in on our seasons dream. I say screw beating Chicago... The dream end to my season includes beating Detroit, in Pittsburgh, with everybody in attendance chanting HOSSA HOSSA HOSSA as the clock winds down, and seeing him strike a familiar pose sitting on the ice in remorse...but i'll take your future too

Maple Leafs 2 @ Pens 3 Final.

Final Recap

So far I haven't seen any threat to Janne from his competition. Bissonnette looks more like a goon style type hockey player. James has about 5 min of ice time and has done nothing special so far.I 'm really starting to think Janne and the hometown boy from Fox Chapel are going to make team. Just a gut feelng ...

Meet Janne's Competition

So the current speculation is that the main competition to make the team will be between

Janne Pesonen

Connor James

Paul Bissonette

Bill Thomas

Danny Richmond

So chances are they will only take 2 of these guys. Connor James and Bissonette are long shots to make the team from what i hear. Bill Thomas has been playing really well, and Danny Richmond may get in due to our lack of defenders right now. They are giving Janne every chanace to make the team, so we're gonna have to wait and see to find out what's gonna happen to our boy...

Janne clears the second round of cuts...

Edit: This has been confirmed by the Tribune Review

According to The Insider On Pittsburgh Sports Janne has passed through the second trimming of players from the Pens. The current roster is down to 29. Notable players sent to the AHL include, forwards Kris Beech, Ryan Stone, Adam Henrich, Aaron Boogaard, Tim Wallace, Jonathan Filewich, David Gove and Christopher Minard; defensemen Deryk Engelland, T.J. Kemp, Ben Lovejoy and Joey Mormina; and goaltender David Brown.

This is being reported only on TIOPS and no where else, so take it as you will.

I believe the roster needs to be trimmed down to 23, here are the players left on the training camp roster:

Defenseman (10)
Mark Eaton
Hal Gill**
Alex Gloigoski
Sergei Gonchar(injured)
Daryl Sydor
Ryan Whitney(injured)
Danny Richmond
Kris Letang**
Brooks Orpik**

Forwards (16)
Paul Bissonnette
Matt Cooke**
Sidney Crosby**
Pascal Dupuis**
Ruslan Fedotenko**
Eric Godard**
Connor James
Tyler Kennedy**
Evgeni Malkin**
Janne Pesonen
Miroslav Satan**
Jordan Staal**
Jeff Taffe
Petr Sykora**
Maxime Talbot**
Bill Thomas

Goaltenders (3)
Marc Andre Fleury**
Dany Sabourin
John Curry

I've put stars next to people that I feel are guaranteed to make the team, which is a total of 14, Looking at the forwards I think it is looking fairly good Janne makes the team, although some people feel that he may need an adjustment period in the AHL to get used to the american game.

I have heard that he is trying to do too much between the blue lines and ends up losing the puck, rather than just dumping it and using his speed to his advantage... Not sure when the final rosters are due but we'll keep you posted

Sarg is out for WEEKS?

Just heard on the way home from work Sergei will be out for WEEKS after his shoulder being injured Saturday night. So what is with this" out for WEEKS crap"? Is it 2 WEEKS or 152 WEEKS ?? Why is all these injuries so secretive ?? In the Nhl  injuring your right foot  is  being reported as a left foot injury. By actually coming out and saying Goncher's shoulder is hurt, whether is being seperated, slightly seperated  or maybe jammed who will really know, maybe Tomlin's jaw dropped when Ben was reported to have a shoulder seperation or are they afraid that Shawn Rodgers will show up at the Pens camp and throw an accidental head into Sergei's passing shoulder. Ugh!!! just forget it. Lets just go with WEEKS.  One positive out of all this negitive we will get a nice dose of seeing what  Latang, GoJo  have in their games.

I blame you Hossa...

So the opening of the NHL season will be in Detroit, the defending champions, and opening the event will be a band that has 9 arms and rules, Def Leppord. Presumably if we won we would be hosting the opening game, and get to have Def Leppord playing in Pittsburgh. Janne woulda scored that goal at the last minute (correction, Janne woulda made sure his team was never 1 game from elimination). In conclusion, Marian Hossa, when you come to Pittsburgh, you will not only be facing the anger of you leaving us for presumably greener pastures, but you will be facing the anger of taking the awesomeness of Def Leppord away from the faithful fans of Pittsburgh. Rot in hell Hossa, i hope Godard punches you when you come to Pittsburgh.

Here is the link to the Face Off Rocks announcement

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Pittsburgh Penguins South (aka the Tampa Bay Lightning) tonight 7:30 PM...

Just a heads up here the Pens are playing The Pittsburgh Penguins South tonight at 7:30 pm. Stop by Pesonen and the Pens for some live blogging updates from myself and Kevin. Hopefully we'll see Pesonen kick ass and that bum Steven Stamjokes continue to prove himself unworthy of the number 1 pick. So yeah, stop by, get updates, give us your thoughts... The Pesonation continues to grow...

In other news Kevin and I have been discussing in the near future (assuming janne makes the team which is looking very good at this point) getting toegether a T-Shirt Sale. We are unsure of the design, but right now we are leaning towards Pessi's Finnish Army, but if you have any t-shirt ideas or designs please send us an email and we may use it. All procedes will goto charity and not our pockets so hopefully that gets a few of you who would be on the fence to buy one. So yeah stay posted for that and give us any thoughts about that if you wish...

EDIT:

Apparently you can listen to the game on TB radio so here is the link:

Janne Pesonen Picture of the Week

EDIT:

So i just found a new picture of Janne from the game last night, so that will become the new picture of the week.

I know we already posted this picture, but seriously, after a month of digging up pictures of this guy reppin other cities and countries, it is truly a breath of fresh air to finally see our favorite Fin
sporting the Black & Gold...

Janne Pesonen Fact of the Week...

If the entire history of Hockey was comprised into a Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, Wayne Gretzky would be considered as foreshadowing for the impact of Janne Pesonen...

Janne interview after Lightning game

Thanks to Pens TV, we are able to post Janne's interview following the Tampa Bay loss Saturday night.

Janne gets robbed?

So according to a faithful Janniac I got a quick update about Janne's non-goal. Apparently it was a delayed penalty and the referee's claimed that the puck bouncing off the goalie was the same as the Lightning gaining possession so the goal was called off. If anybody else who was there has any opinions on the matter i'd love to hear them. Anyways, since Janne did get a point, and should have had a goal, i'm going to start a little tradition here since I assume the Igloo AV squad won't play the Pesonen theme song whenever he scores...

So from now on when Janne scores, come over to the home for all things Janne to hear his theme song and celebrate...

Gonchar leaves game with shoulder injury...

Radio stations are reporting that Sergei Gonchar injured his shoulder during the first period of last night game against Tampa Bay. He took a hit from Tampa Bay's David Koci. Gonchar joins fellow defenseman Rod Scuderi and Ryan Whitney on the banged up list. The Penguins have not reported how serious Sergei's injury is.

Great defensive play...

Janne did show a very good defensive play on the penalty kill against Crosby first unit power play. While the power play unit had been controlling the puck and working the blue line Pessi intercepted a pass from Sid to Geno with very nice anticipation. Janne received alot of atta boy from staff and players.

Finally the practice is over. For Janne is was very solid effort. Hopefully he can carry this effort over to the Lightning game. Janne ends today's practice with sticks in hand contemplating whether to you two or one tonight.

Pessi and Fleury...

Here Janne is planning his next attack on Marc-Anders. The end result was a sweet move to the left and a wrister to the back of the twine. GOAL!!!!

I finally made a practice....Nice to see Janne!!

Yes, I finally made a practice this morning. First time seeing the Pens since that dreaded night at the Igloo when Marion Hossa future team stole the cup from our beloved Penguins. Good to see everybody made it through what had to be a never ending nightmare of only if I couldn't have scored here, and I should have made a save there. Today's practice was short and light with the upcoming game tonight vs the Tampa Bay Lightning. I finally had the honor of witnessing Finnish hockey god in action. Yes the Golden boy himself Janne Pesonen. The kid definitely has Nhl skills as seen here scoring what looks to be 13 goals on one shift.

A little more of Janne in camp....

Courtesy of Pens Tv when have another 10 min excerpt from Pens camp day two. Pessi and the Pens as you will see doing drills, around the 7:30 mark Janne breaks in a 2 on 0 looks like he was going to shoot when at the last min feeling a little sorry for one of his teammates our Golden boy makes a little dump pass for an easy open net. Camp reports on Janne are all over the board, so I will reserve comment at this time until after the Lightning game.

Janne slowly taking out the competition

Today the highly touted Luca Caputi was sent down to the AHL. A lot of people really felt as if he had a very good chance to make it to the big show after his stunning performance in the AHL playoffs last year.

Other people cut were forwards Joe Haddad, Dustin Jeffrey, Nick Johnson and Mark Letestu, and defenseman Jonathan D'Aversa.

The Penguins have 24 forwards, 14 defensemen and four goalies remaining in camp. They will play their opening exhibition game Saturday night (7:30 p.m.) against Tampa Bay at Mellon Arena.

It seems to me it got a little bit easier for Janne this morning...

More Janne camp photos..

Thanks to drunkarmyfan for these to shots of our Goldenboy at camp. While his star qualities require Janne to wait while bursting at the seams as to how you say it "get it on" He is trying to slow his game down so everyone receives a chance to handle the biscuit, knowing once Pessi revs those engines there will be no slowing this future star down.

More Janne news notes and interview!

First of all, i'd like to give a big thanks to a fellow Janniac Satownsend for giving us a heads up on an article about Janne in the Trib. Got a few neat questions out of Janne...
"My buddies have sent me those (Internet video links)," Pesonen said. "You'll have to ask them about that."
I wonder if The Golden One is talking about us? Anyways, he also talked about that he'd be willing to play in the AHL in order to get a shot in the nhl...

Anyways, the big thing that I found here was a video interview with Janne... His english seems good and he has the poise of star

Video property of Trib-Total Media
To read the entire article click here

Also thanks to the photo album on LetsGoPens.com I got a picture of Janne beating Fleury like a red headed stepchild...

Moving on, it seemed the post-gazetted wanted to get in on the Janne action here, they have a quick write up about him, nothing new, but still good. They also have a good picture...

Now before i leave you with this post, I want everybody to remember one thing. Before all these major new sources decided it was cool to be covering Janne, we've been doin it for over a month.

Janne TV group B......

If you can stand to watch a real world class hockey god. Check this out. Pessi in Pens practice today dances his way around the D, around the net, puck in between the legs and 5 hole it for his first of what I suspect will be many of Quins goals. The global event occurs around the 4mins and 55 secs mark into the video. Thanks to Pens TV..

The P man Cometh

Finally we have the first picture of Janne in a Pens uni (yes you heard it here first folks, the first ever picture of Janne on ice with the pens is here at Pesonen and the Pens...link that). Thanks to my fellow Janniac TeamKory.

So finally after toiling around here with pictures from his past for a month, our first official evidence that Janne is here...kickin ass and taken names

HockeyBuzz's take on Janne at camp

Review of Janne's first day at camp from Brian Metzer at Hockey Buzz

Janne Pesonen looks as if he has a little adjusting to do yet, but he didn't seem out of place. In fact, he made some nice passes and used his speed to create openings for himself. He was skating with Tyler Kennedy and Jeff Taffe. Pesonen did miss a breakaway opportunity, but the fact that he created it for himself was a great sign of what could be on the horizon. I still think that he logs some NHL ice time this year. He may need a cup of coffee in the AHL first though...we will see
Read the entire article here

Welcome new readers

Wow, it's so nice to actually have real news to report...

Anyways I am still in quest for the holy grail, aka a picture of Janne in a pens uni. So yeah, also I've seen our hit counts have been goin up lately, so I'm assuming we are getting alot of new people, so I just wanted to leave our new viewers with this (remember this video when voting on Proposition 20: Is Janne Jesus)

Janne "Golden Boy?" Pesonen

So apparently Janne is going to be rocking #20. I have heard conflicting reports for how he performed. One person said he looked like shit, one person said he looked ok, and one person said he was one of the top pick ups this off season. I guess we won't know until he really gets a shot at greatness... Anyways, I think we should start calling Janne "Golden Boy"...

Pictures from Camp

Hey loyal readers, I just wanted to ask you guys a favor. If any of you go to practice can you please send over some pictures, they are hard to come by...

Also what number is Janne wearing?

Report from Camp

So far the line combos I've heard from today's opening session the first line were Crosby flanked by Satan and Fedotenko, Second line had Malkin with Staal and Sykora. Makes sense to me but you know and I know with Therrien these lines are not etched in stone. Talbot is looking like a the 3rd center with Matt Cooke at LW., actually I really like these two together and maybe flanked also by Dupuis. This leaves Kennedy, Taffe, Godard and our boy Janne battling for what is left. My feeling on this its way to early and Janne will have ample time to show Therrien and the NHL what the buzz is around here.

Mikey T talks Janne

In an interview about camp Mikey T (i am hereby officially refusing to call a man Michelle and i have trouble spelling his last name, so Mikey T it is) brings up Janne Pesonen
Therrien said, "I think [Pesonen] will play both wings," but that "I want to see him play some exhibition games" before determining the role he will fill.
So my main question is that making Janne play both wings on one line, is that Mikey showing mercey to other teams in the league, or is that the NHL trying to avoid Slovakia v. Bulgeria-esque beat downs on a weekly basis.

So yeah, you heard it here first, the 1st line (not SH line) the pens may look like this...
Crosby - Pesonen
Gonchar - Orpik

Janne put himself up in a hotel...

So thanks to one of our faithful Finnish readers Obelix we have found that apparently Janne has put himself up in a Hotel with other players, I can only assume that they are up to Led Zeppelin like antics...or pillow fights...

The alternate ending has Janne showing up at Ovechkins door and snapping his neck.

Also, training camp starts tomorrow. Please, if there are any readers who are going to camp and take pictures, please send them to me at VinceMancuso@gmail.com and I will post them (Janne or no Janne)

Also, our prospects lost 5-2 to the florida panthers (i refuse to capitalize them because they are barely a team), they should all be publicly flogged in Market Square....

Janne Pesonen Fact of the Week

Janne once played an entire game with a Golf Putter just to see if he could do it... He had 4 goals and 3 assists.

Janne Pesonen Picture of the Week..

A new closeup of our boy that I recently found... You know so if you see him on the street and have trouble recognizing him w/o the golden helmet.

Pens prospects win 5-2

Not many details about this game just that our Pens prospects defeated the Maple Leafs prospects 5-2 in Kitchener, Ont. Scoring for the Pens: Joe Haddad(two), Jean-Michel Daoust, D-man Ben Lovejoy and Jonathan D'Aversa. Center Mark Letestu had 3 assists. Pens play Florida rookies today....

Janne Pesonen arrives in Pittsburgh?

So apparanty according to one of our Faithful Finnish Readers Janne arrived in Pittsburgh last week. I have been trying to find a new source for this, but browsing Finnish news when you don't know Finnish or where to look is quite difficult. So if anybody has any updates on this just post them in the comments section and we'll give you credit and such...

Man Janne arrives in pittsburgh and I don't know about it... I must be slipping in my old age. I wonder who he is living with? If anybody knows how to get in contact with him tell him he can live with my parents in my old room...

So yeah, assuming that Janne is in Pittsburgh, you know what that means... Let the games begin...

So let's show all Janne a thing or two about how we treat our celebrity's... Like animals at the zoo... But seriously Janne, if you decide to move in with my parents I promise we won't bother you when you are at home...

Where we could have been, and where we are heading...

So, as most of you already know with Penguins camp opening next week, we are at the end of our drought of news and will no longer have to resort to random-interest pieces to attract viewers and to be linked in other blogs. Anyways, I figured before we move onto the next season, we should just take one look back to what could have been, and where we are going...

Anyways, I will admit, that when Marian Hossa first came to Pittsburgh last year, I jumped on that badwagon probably faster than anybody. Hossa quickly jumped to the top of my list of Penguin players and became an instant hit in my book. Although I wasn't dumb enough as some people to go out and buy $180 on a Hossa jersey, I was one of the few that were convinced that Hossa was going to become a mainstay in Pittsburgh.

So, you have to ask yourself, what would have happened if we did resign hossa. Well, Satan and Fedetenko probably would have not signed... Chances are the Pens may have not brought Pesonen over... So instead of looking at pictures of the week and reading interesting facts about Janne, we could be workin a whole different angle...

Would you be reading hossa's house if he signed this summer?

Anyways, what happened happened, I would have loved to keep Marian in Pittsburgh, but he left, and we got Janne... Will he replace Marian... well that is why we are going to take a quick look forward...

As I expressed earlier explaining the picture of Conks and Hossa being from the future, i figured i'd share a few more interesting snap shots i got from my travels...

Two years in a row, sitting and morning on the ice in pittsburgh must be nice...

Janne Posing with the cup...and yes he decided to keep some of his sponsors when he came over,
anyways, who the hell would not want to sport Audi shin pads?

In conclusion, yes, Janne will replace Marian... and we will prevail..

Well anyway, stay tuned people, we are about to pull this into high gear, camp starts next week... Go Pens and Go Janne...

Get in the fast lane grandma.....

I'm starting to sense the buzz(I'm almost sure that it isn't from Vince's homemade brew). Finally we are starting to see some movement on the Pessi news front. We have been trying to keep the hype going since mid-July. Vince has finally gone over the edge, though his is creativity is second to none,I think he has finally snapped. The Pens are ready to go into camp, we are ready to hear from Pesonsen and The Pens fans who would like to voice their opinion on whether Janne or the Pens will succeed. The big question for us is can Janne be a contributor to the Pens’ lineup this year ??

Janne will benefit from the talent that’s on the Penguins roster. It’s hard to gauge his production in the NHL, but hopefully he’ll turn into a golden(helmet) signing. Janne has plenty talent with fantastic hands

Will Janne have sudden impact or will it be a growing process which will depend on his adjustment to the North American style. Smaller rinks, bigger players and just the speed of the overall league. Though I wouldn't be against Janne starting down in Wilkes-Barre. I'm not convinced that Janne is a 3rd or 4th liner, will he have enough to break into the top 6 forwards. Right now it is all pure speculation, though I must say we have had alot fun with this. What do you think? In the mean time if Janne does play for the big club, Vince and I have been discussing some event planning that could prove interesting. So let us all join in with Mike and get in the fast lane with grandma.

Why do we get the bad MTVs?

I recently found this old Janne interview on MTV3's website (seriously, we get stuck with MTV and MTV2, meanwhile MTV3 is covering Janne....)...

The interview was done in January, so he wasn't on the pens yet, but it's nice to get alittle more insight into the personality (via google translator of course) of our new hero Janne Pesonen.

When asked to describe himself as a hockey player, Janne responded:

The first comes to mind a good skating, and a certain type of hard drive - all done each team's effort in this regard. Silloin tuntuu parhaalta, kun joukkue menestyy. It seems the best policy, when a team to succeed. Täytyy myös sanoa nälkä, joka ei koskaan lopu. I must also say hunger, which never run out. Eli todella voitontahtoisena pelaajana. In other words, really voitontahtoisena player.
Read the rest of the interview here

I mean, this is perfect, ask any of my friends, all season long, even throughout our dominating playoff run, all I kept saying was, man the pens are great, but we really need a voitontahtoisena player...and, if only we had some voitontahtoisenas on our team, we'd be able to win the cup no problem... So after reading this, you cannot believe how happy i am to know that Janne is a self-described voitontahtoisena player, i just hope he really can bring a level of voitontahtoisena to the pens...

In other news, this picture has been circulating the internet, and I wanted to clear the air on it...

Yeah, I actually took this picture in the future, next year at this time to be precise. Hossa and Conks are laughing about two things, the irony about how they left the Penguins to win a cup then the Penguins went on to win the cup in 2008-2009, and the other thing they are happy about is that Janne just knocked up Conks wife, so atleast one of his many kids will have the genes of a good hockey player...

Where to buy a golden helmet?

So I officially decided that my head ware for watching Pens games this season will be a Golden Helmet so i can not only look awesome (if Janne has taught me anything, it's that Golden Helmets look PIMP), but I can also support Janne in my own worldly way.

So after I came to this conclusion (after hours of meditation), I started to scour the internet for Golden Hockey Helmets, which is significantly harder than you would think. Here is what i have found so far...

Cascade CHX Gold Helmet $119

Hmm, for 119 bucks this helmet really isn't golden enough for me... If it had more of a shinny finish i might be tempted to buy it, but alas...

All other helmets I have found claiming to be gold look more like this...

Which in my opinion is completely unacceptable...

Currently I see my best bet as buying a cheap white helmet and painting it gold. It will be cheap and even it looks shitty at least it will only cost me around 20 bucks rather than 120...

If anybody has any other ideas of where I can obtain a gold helmet i'd love your input, and i'll keep you posted on my progression...

Janne Pesonen fact of the week...

When Janne scores a goal, ovulating women in the first 3 rows are susceptible to instant impregnation...

BallHype: hype it up!

Working out in search of the real one....

Janne has spent his time wisely in the Elite Finnish league hoisting trophies of all shapes and sizes. Pessi here is seen working out with his latest award preparing himself for the REAL CUP he will skate around the Igloo with after the Pens win the 2008 STANLEY CUP.......

Fist Pump x 2....aka BIG DOUBLE FIST PUMP (BDFP)

One of the best goto easy celebration that most of the greats in modern sports call upon when they succeed is often referred to as, The Fist Pump. Elegant yet celebratory, the fist pump has made it's way into sports as a way of saying...yeah i'm better than you, and this is how i'm going to celebrate.

We've seen tiger do it...

Alot...

We've seen Federer and Nedal do it...

It's even done in the No Fun League (NFL)

So, if only the best in their respective sports do the fist pump... Then what do you do if you are better than the best... Well Janne has made his own solution...

Janniacs, i would like to introduce you to hopefully what remains Janne's goto celebration in the NHL... The BIG DOUBLE FIST PUMP (BDFP for short). So yeah, from now on when you are watching our Penguins beatin the shit out of some worthless franchise, and Janne puts the puck in the net make sure to join in the celebration (and encourage people around you too) by thrusting your pipes in the air for a Big Double Fist Pump...
