Somebody repping PATP at game 1...

Saw this on empty netters...

Look familiar...

Can anyone win a faceoff...game 2 is a must..

This Redwings team is not any team from the East..  Game one to the Wings... I personally will be holding faceoff tryouts.... the Wings smoked us in faceoffs . The goals weren't pretty, but that also is typical Pens/Wings.  This was a better #1 game one than last year, in saying that we are still down 1-0... # stars came down as #1 Ozzy, #2 Ugly(I dunno) #3 Helm...

Zetterberg and Helm were like 28-9 in faceoffs..

Leaky Fluery must be alot better next game..must be...I'm actually thinking he has to win this game by himself...

Could tomorrow be a must win already for the Pens? I'm thinking maybe, I'm thinking Lip and Ugly better come to play.....

We want the cup....

I love that commercial, it is hands down one of my favorite commercials of all time. Every time i watch it i get a shiver down my spine... Tomorrow, the Penguins quest for the Cup continues... It has been a long year since we were here before, but it seems like it was yesterday.... Last year going into Detroit I admit that I didn't have high hopes, the Penguins were a young team who cruised through several easy contests with less than stellar teams... This year, although we haven't played the greatest teams, I feel like we are a little more battle tested... Last year going down 1 game let alone two was an unheard of concept... In that locker room they had no solid evidence that they could fight through that storm... This year we had two close series', one in which we actually went down 2-0... I am not saying that I am going into this series with glowing confidence that we are win, but I do have confidence that we are better team than last year... and honestly, I do not think the red wings are that much better than they were last year... Whatever, I'm tired of talking about this, watching analysts talk about it, let's just do it already....

Bring it....

Crosby shadow picture from The Pensblog

It may have been a bad bounce, but Detroit deserved not only to win the series, but the game. It was weird sitting at home basically cheering for Detroit... I want them in the final, I want them healthy, I want blood, and most importantly I WANT THE CUP....

Go Pens...

This time let's get it right...

Woooooo, two years in a row, this year we're gonna finish the job... I'm so happy they touched the trophy, I understand it's tradition and blah blah blah, but hell, not touching the trophy got us nowhere last year... Anyways, the Flower was amazing, he could have easily had a shut out... We got two shitty goals, but sometimes that's all you need... Bring it...

Oh and before i forget...

woooooooo

I can hear her warming up...ITS ALL OVER!!

Guess who arrived in town to watch game four? Tonight we go for the sweep and I'm sure with that the Fat lady will be making an appearance....

Thanks to Cam Ward the Pens advanced to the SCF and await the defending Champs sweeping the Canes 4-0...

The Canes proved to be a real joke in this round....stupidity ran rampid in the 3rd period....

Finish him...

Believe it or not, in the last two dominating playoff years the pittsburgh penguins weakest link is at their first cracks at eliminating opponents... In their first elimination games the past two years the pens are 1-4... Unlike all those games though, the Pens have absolutely manhandled the Canes all series, and not at one point did I ever feel like the Canes could match up to the Pens...

Who cares, enough speculation, drop the puck, finish him...

Увидимся позже Сергей

See you later Sergei... Via TSN, Sergei Federov is running from the United States to the KHL, as he signed with Evgeni Malkins old club Metallurg Magnitogorsk... Now there are some popular opinions on why he would do this, ending his career in his home country, to play with his younger brother, or to get in on the ground floor of an up and coming hockey league... While these may be the case, I can only assume that the Pens scared him out of the NHL...

Anyways, this is a growing trend in the NHL of our elders jumping ship to the KHL... In my opinion, for the european and russian players with a cup this is the right move... They get to play closer to their family, they get paid more or equal, and they get to play like 30 less games (i am under the assumption that most european leagues are like 50 some games long, correct me if i'm wrong)...

A lot of people think this is going to be a problem, but I won't get worried until we start losing younger talent... This will be very interesting to see what happens with all of this in the future. This is the first sport that really has comparable talent dispersed over such large distances (the only other sport that comes close is soccer, but the US doesn't field that many quality soccer players)... I think the game they had last year with the rangers vs. the champions league (European champion) for the "Victoria Cup" was a step in the right direction, but in the future the NHL will have to field a more quality team (i.e. the NHL champion not a team that lost in 5 games in the second round of the playoffs) like the SC champs...

Any thoughts?

Funny way to antagonize

This reminds me of something ruutu would do, but it was franzen...

Possible change to schedule...

Via ESPN, if the penguins and the redwings are able to close out their series in their next games on Tuesday and Wednesday night respectively they will try to move the opening game up till Saturday May 30th... With this scenario game 2 would be held on Sunday May 31st... Though the two games back to back this is very necessary, the 8 day lay off will really hurt the NHL and everybody outside of Pittsburgh and Detroit will lose interest...

Hossa comes alive...

We called hossa out a few days ago, today he answered us with a dominating 2 goal game... The red wings are up 3-1, the pens are up 3-0.... Bring it...

Checkout this poll

The Post Gazette is runnning  a poll in which I think someone over there is smoking some primo weed. I can kinda see what they are trying create, but hopefully it isn't who is better The Lip and Ugly or 66 & 68. Now don't get me wrong Lip and Ug are making their mark in their era of hockey this post season in which the youngins who are growing up with them will argue to their death that Lip & Ug will be the greatest hockey players to ever walk this earth, Plus....plus I say when the Pens hoist the cup this year they will be compared to the young Oilers of the '80s.

It is always fun to  turn these comparisons into good bar debates, you know the kind I'm talking about the drunker you are the smarter you become.  Just let the Pens enjoy this one, hell don't compare them to one of the top teams to ever hit the ice, they won't even be the best Pens team to win the Cup, they will be the best team to win the in 2008/2009.. As for the Poll, just take a look at the results..

Go Pens..Go Lip and Ug...

Canes, don't take this personal...

Check the time Cinderella...

1 more win and the Pens are goin dancing with Lord Stanley.... This is very similar to last year, where the Cinderella story flyers seemingly defied the odds to make it to the ECF, only to be overwhelmed by a much better Penguin team... The Cardiac Canes are doing exactly what their name implies, heart attack city... Get out the brooms...

Are you ready?

Back in old form...

Last year in the playoffs marian hossa put up a career high of 26 points, prior to last year he had the reputation of being quite the playoff no show, his point high was when he played with the Sens and he put up 16 points, but only averaged 6.29 points per playoff... Everybody thought that Maid marian shed that reputation last year when he had possibly the best playoff of anybody in a penguin uniform... You would assume he could continue that this year... But no, hossa currently has 7 points (4 goals and 3 assists)... Penguins with more points than him, ShitTank, Silky, Kunitz, Gonchar, BG, Malkin, Crosby and Cooke is tied... Just thought this was interesting, especially with there being so much talk about whether or not the Pens this year are better than last year...

Personally I think we are better... Last years team was great, but when you look at our road to the stanley cup, we didn't really face much adversity... This year both malkin and crosby are playing better, and we have more supporting players playing well... Bring it Hossa...

SM-Liiga star makes Stanley Cup debut...

With Datsyuk injured Finnish superstar Ville Leino made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut with detroit tonight... As of halfway through the 3rd period he has registered 1 shot on goal is even and has around 9 min or ice time... Congratulations Ville, hopefully janne will get this opportunity next year...

Gotta love Miro...

It's amazing to think that this guy was considered a complete bust only a month ago.... It really says something about him as a person that he can step up and play at this level after grinding it out in the minors and being a daily healthy scratch...

Asserting dominance...

Wow that was a crazy 1st period...i went to take a leak up 2-1 came back the game was tied... The second period was all Carolina, they dominated straight up, then with 7 seconds to go, Kunitz decided to come to the party 14 games late and put us up... Then the 3rd period was all pens... Malkin looked possessed ever since he took that penalty and he accomplished something that according to versus was the first hat trick for the pens in the playoffs since 99 (they later corrected themselves remembering what was broadcasted on their own network only 2 weeks ago when crosby did it)... Anyways the best part about this win, unlike the last one, is that we truely asserted our dominance, Carolina is going home thinking "yeah we played sorta well, but they still beat our asses"... With crosby and malkin making their players look like some QMJHL jokes, i really cannot see us losing this series... But who knows, anything can happen, we were in this same position only 2 weeks ago... Anyways, GO PENS!

Quote the Janne...

From John Bombouile at the Penguins Insider, when asked about being a UFA Janne Pesonen stated...
"Pittsburgh is going to be the No. 1 option because I already know the organization and coaches and a lot of players. That would be the No. 1 option, but we’ll see."
Hope this is a good sign...

In addition, as per Dave Molonari at the Post-Gazette

"He [Pesonen] really adjusted well and, on top of that, is a great guy. He's really well liked by his teammates We'll talk [about bringing him back]. We're definitely not closing the door on it."
I'm sure this will be a hot topic in the Penguins organization up until Free Agency starts...

Kevin's take:

I'd like to add to this post, Vince and I have talked many times over the last year about Janne, calling for just a fair shot at making the team. Listening to "The Drive", ESPN's local show on the radio, hosts Paulson and Crow were discussing Janne wondering about why they know nothing about this guy as for coverage and basically what all the hoopla was about that came with his signing.

long story short, upon not really knowing anything about him in a hockey sense outside of his numbers he posted this year in the AHL, the insinuated that he was just that an AHL player and nothing more.

One guy, who thinks a little different is WBS's hockey super announcer Scott Stuccio. Scott and I have exchanged a few emails during the year and I ask Scott what he thought of Janne, here is his answer...

"Janne is one special guy, let me tell you.  He is a warrior.  What a great attitude, and what a superb player.  He will do anything for anyone.  I’ll tell you, had it not been for his injury sidelining him for almost a month, we’d be in a much better spot right now.  We needed him in Games 1 & 2 in Hershey.  And that’s not to discredit the rest of our team… they all gave it their very best.  I love each and every one of them, and it’s times like these that I hate my job, when you don’t know if you’ll get to see somebody like Janne again.  Funny side story: I jumped into their pre-morning-skate soccer game in the Giant Center hallway yesterday morning… and Janne kept serving the ball to me.  I am proud to also have been a teammate of his on our bus-ride Nintendo DS Mario Kart games.

Overall, I’m just proud to say I got to know him."

So let us sign Janne, bring him to camp and give him a real chance before the Pens turn him loose. I'm sure that is all he would like too..

When your best just isn't good enough....

I made this right after game 7 but forgot about posting it...

Woooo!!!!

1st period was all pens, 2nd period was all canes, 3rd period was all pens.... Still the end was too close for comfort... The Penguins won because they got some tertiary scoring from Miroslav Satan and Phillipe Boucher (Cam Ward may eeek our Varlamov for softest goal of the playoffs award on that one).... Anyways, Malkin showed up, Sid looked like Kevin Stevens threatened him not to break his playoff goal record, other than a few great looks from Big Goof our 1st line was invisible... I wish that we left them thinking they wern't so close, at the end we gave them alittle too much confidence for game two...

Anyways, go pens...

Different Spelling same awesomeness...

Yanni has shown his public support of the Pittsburgh Penguins...

Big Club adds some babies....

Pens called up forwards Jeff Taffe, Chris Minard and Dustin Jeffery, plus Ben Lovejoy and goalie John Curry.

Rumor has it that Janne is back in Finland on vacation.

Some Janne news and notes...

First of all, the undisclosed injury for Janne was was actually a broken bone in his hand...

Second, after the heartbreaking loss, John Bombouile from the Penguins insider had a chance to talk to some penguin UFA's, including Janne... Janne allegedly said that his first choice was to stay with the penguins organization if they want him... I really cannot imagine that both Disco Dan and Ray Shero completely ignored Janne's amazing season, so let's hope this is a good sign..

Kevin's addition:

I look for an offer to Pessi, also I see the Janne coming to big club for the ECF, unless his hand is still a problem..

Go Pens...

Pens vs. Caps... A retrospect... (Also how it should sound version 3....)

The outcome of last nights game changed my outlook of things probably, but no matter win or lose most of the things I say here would probably hold true...

Looking back on a roller coaster season it is amazing that we are back in the ECF for the second year in row... I can remember the days when kevin and I were routinely calling for MT's head... Anyways, I was thinking about this today and looking back at our season it seems the caps have had quite the impact on our season. When I think about our mid-season slide, I think back to that game where we were up 4-1 on the caps, and they came back and beat us in regulation... After that game everything was downhill... Ovechkin and his caps sent us into a deadly spiral that had us several spots out of the playoffs and all of us sitting around thinking "maybe next year"... All was going down hill then all the sudden things started looking up... Whether it was finally beating the caps after 5 trys, or Disco Dan coming to save the day, it didn't matter, it seemed everything was up from there....

After that it seemed fitting that it would come down to playing the caps in the playoffs... Now it took 7 games to get the job done, but I think game 7 showed that we were a few bounces away from a sweet, and by far were the better team... We spout this more during the NFL playoffs, but the same holds true in the NHL, defense wins championships, and the Caps had none of it... Mike Green is pretty much all they had, and he had a bad series, maybe he was hurt, maybe he was just off, but he is a good player and I think any penguin fan would agree with me when i say that I hope the dumb ass capitals fans run him out of town like Larry Murphy and Gonchar (Whoop Whoop!) so we can scoop him up...

And on a final note, though their stats show up as the same Sidney Crosby has proven that he is the definitive player in the NHL today... Though Ovechkin put up points and goal, he did nothing in between... Unlike the two Heart candidates in this series, The Lip put the game on his stick and did everything.... He passed the puck, he scored goals, he backchecked, he forechecked, he went into corners, and most importantly he won the series.... Both Carolina and Boston will be tough opponents, but the Pens can take them on, and hopefully after a few games we will be sitting here waiting for our second year in the SCF... It's been a magical ride this year, and I'm glad we can continue this for atleast another series...

HOW IT SHOULD SOUND 3

Susan Boyle Loves the Pens....

I can only assume that is internet sensation Susan Boyle...

Pens rip the Caps a new ass....C'ya next year.

Vince's Take: Wow...that was amazing, my heart was racing all day, all I kept thinking was that i couldn't take another finger biter.... The penguins did what they did all series, but this time they converted on their chances.... Slowly watching the fans fall out of the game was just great... These fans are just as bad as the filthy philly fans... Sid is laying on the ice bleeding and they're chanting crosby sucks... No class... Who cares we shoved it up their asses... Another entertaining tidbit is that earlier in the year Cumstain called crosby out saying he had dead wood and wasn't that good... Last time i checked crosby had 8 goals, you had 1... Suck it... Now the only thing left for us to ask is whether Lady Alex goes just as crazy every time he sinks a put...

First period the Pens had it all together leading the Caps 2-0

Marc-Andre made a huge save on Lady Alex midway through the first.

two goals 8 secs apart by The Lip and Craig"Mr. Clutch" Adams has put tons of pressure on the Caps rookie goal. Varlamov didn't have a chance on Lip's goal, in a game 7 he has to stop Adams goal.....not!!!!

I felt total domination by the Pens, the Caps looked rattled....

next goal if there is one is going to be big. If we get it it will be lights out....

2nd period: 5-1

We are killing them 5-0. Caps D man should get a kickback from the Pens. Green has been ultra
soft.

Varlamov has been pulled.. Sweaty Teddy just gave up the 5th goal...

The Hershey Bears would be giving us a better game..

2nd period goals... Big Goof, Silk and Captain Close for the Pens...

Think they just awarded the sandwich of the game a little to soon to Cookie Monster, The lady just lit up his own player.. HAHA the Caps are a joke tonight...

Observation: Craps really don't have much of a transition game outside of Mike Green, who has been terrible and soft, their D is big, slow and they don't handle the puck very well. D has no grit and no heart.

How big was that save by MAF on the Lady early in the first.

Pens have a team with a lot heart and the Craps have a team with alot of deadwood, deadmeat and dead players..

3rd period: keep the pedal to the metal

Here we go, the Craps last period of hockey for 2009....

My God the Lip just got high-sticked in the Lips, drew blood and a 4 min penalty. The Lip with need to rent a low boy to get his swollen back to Pittsburgh.

The Lip just score a PP on sweaty teddy's 5 hole that looked like a ten hole..HAHA...

As the the game whines down, can't help but think this is going to be a hotly contested rivalry.

Congrats Pens for stomping their ass and given my stomach enough time to settle down before bed.

there will be some crying in their beer tonight...

I feel like I have died and went to heaven with the Pens eliminating the Cryers and Craps in the same year..

Judgement Day

Today is it... Win or go home... It no longer matters who is the better team, all that matters is who is the better team today... There is nothing that Kevin or I can say in this post that can even come close to touching what this next game means to us... So we will leave it short and sweet... Do It...

WBS Pens eliminated

The Baby Pens were beat and eliminated by the Hershey Bears tonight in game 7.

After winning 3 home games in a row and taking a 3-2 series lead they were shutout in games 6 and 7.

The O disappeared not scoring a goal sometime in the 2nd period of game 5.

It will be interesting what will happen with Janne, will the Pens resign him and at least a fair shot at making the team next year.

Another Episode of How it Should Sound....

Tonight is HUGE.... If anybody reading is, or knows somebody who is going to the game tonight we need the audience to be LOUD AND PROUD tonight... I want to have problems hearing the two FSN stooges tonight... Let's send these pieces of shit to the golf course....

Sunday, May 10, 2009

define Classless:

Once again Caps fans show why they are POS. The First round had a fan toss beer at Rangers coach John Tortorella in the first round. In the video the you can see during the Pens celebration Caps fan throwing garbage at them.

As much as I hate anything associated with the Filthy Flyers, the Craps fans are lower than spit..

Pens lose game 6...

The Baby Pens have their first chance to close out the division finals. they lead the Bears 3-2 in the series.

red hot Adam Berkhoel will be in the net for the Pens.

Janne has points in both games he has appeared in.

PP has been sick 17/49  34.7%

Game Note:

Pens were a no show in this one, The Bears rocked and roll all game. Janne was held without a shot. Just wondering how healthy he is.

Tuesday night one team moves on and one goes home.

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Double Penguin win tonight...

The WBS Pens and the Pittsburgh Pens took the lead over their respective opponents 3-2...

Wow, what a game, I think we have Washingtons number, look for a dominating win Monday night to send the Crapitals to the golf coarse...

I hate Boudreau

Bruce Boudreau claims that Orpik putting Semin into the boards was more vicious then ovechkin ENDING Gonch's season... This is why this team is a piece of shit, they don't have any dicipline and they let their players get away with shit like this... I hope we take Ovechkins head off and as it flys through the air it hits that fat shit Boudreau in the head....
"I'd be more concerned with Orpik cross checking Semin in the back of the head. Even though the injury didn't take place that was way more vicious."

This guy was bitching about how the Penguins complain, yet the past two games I have not heard more complaining ever, than from this capitals team... As far as i'm concerned this franchise is garbage, they don't let penguins fans come into their arena (even if they live in DC), they complain about the refs but try to make it look like we're the ones in the wrong, AND in the past two series they have strategically taken out players in game 4... These guys deserve more than losing...

Goose is recalled

Alex "Goose" Goligoski has been recalled for tonights game 5. He will prolly be replacing Sarge...

Sucks for the baby Pens...

What's the Call...

Just out of curiosity, what does everybody think should be the penalty for the Ovechkin hit on Gonchar... Try to take a step out of your penguins boots and look at it objectively...

Personally, I think it deserved more than a 2 min penalty, but a suspension is a bit drastic...

Blogger reporting Sarge out 4-6 weeks...

Penguins blogger Bill Metzer is reporting an unverified source of Gonchar out 4-6 weeks, this is unverified, just wanted to keep everybody posted...

Glad to see Satan step it up...

I've been totally impressed with the play of Satan. He is keeping it simple and playing with alot of heart with limited ice time. Miro even brought back a pass on the 5th goal that would have made Miro proud.

the role players stepped it up tonight with Mad Max scoring the winning goal, Shittank has played well in the 2 wins. 2 goals in the home wins.

What can you say about the D men, they aren't the highly skilled but play within their limits and have basically shut down the Lady Alex.

I have to confess, I really thought Mike Green was going to be dominate, I know he young with a lot of skill...the only thing he has shown so far is how soft he is.

Final thought.... Looks like Varlamov is cooked. Craps are still a few players away, they can't hang with the warriors that the Pens bring to the ice. We will find out tomorrow what kind of heart the Craps have.

The biggest assist could go to Yanni for the concert here on Tuesday.....

Rumor from Vince that Gonch is out 4-6 weeks...

Heeee's Back

No Janne didn't score today, but he had 3 assists and help lead the baby pens to victory I feel like an ass, Janne did score AND lead his team to victory...Resign him now...... This calls for celebration!

we'll wrap up the pens game a little later...

It's a Barn Burner....

Another game that feels like the Pens should be up 5 goals they are only up 1, but hey atleast we're up, that's more than the caps should say...

Ovechkin takes out Gonchar... I still don't know what to think about it... I think the 2 min minor was a little weak, some people are already calling for suspension but don't waste your breath, Ovechkin could stab somebody with a knife on the ice and he'd only get fined...

Whatever, let's kill the rest of this PP, not take any bad penalties, and go back to Washington for a 3 game series...

Janne Driven..

Janne, 1 goal 3 assists in his first playoff game as the Pens feed off the choosen one.

Series is tied at 2 with game 5 tomorrow night at the Wachovia Center.

Letestu 1 goal and  2 assists

Wbs goals...
Johnson(3)
Jeffery(5)
Caputi(2)
Daoust(5)
Letestu(2)
Janne(1)

Beagle up...Semin out?

In a move than sounds deperate the Craps called up Center Jay Beagle.  Also I'm hearing that Alexander Semin might be a scratch for tonights game. Guess we'll have to wait to see whats up..

Semin has been a total no-show in all 3 games so far and now he was a no hsow at the morning skate. How bad is being looked upon if your being replaced by a minor league player in what is going to prove a turning point game.

Or he is hurt..not sure...give us post if you hear anything else...

He's Baaaaaaack!!!!

according to the report from  Citizens Voice the choosen one skated this morning without an issue.

This is great news for Jannics everyhwere , the Pens should be smiling also...

I'm sure Bears G-man Michal Neuvirth isn't to happy about this news...

Lets Go Pens!!!

A Little Addition: Janne and Coach Reirden talk about his possible return in game 4.

Check out the music in the background...

Full Bore...

Do our Pens have a better game than last night's game....The Igloo was rockin. Pens out hustled and out played the Craps badly, they looked tired and slow. If it wasn't for goalie Varlamov  who knows what the score would have ended up. Ugly was all over the place with the addition to Mad Max, who injected some kind of energy to the line. With saying that, I must admit Satan played the best game in a Penguin uni since his arrival.

I also had thought that playing Silk was a big mistake, I was wrong, he was solid and got the fortunate bounce off the D-man's skate on the overtime goal,  but hell he played one handed all night.

Is this Varlamov kid for real? he has been the best player in this series so far hands down.

Has mark Eaton developed into the Pens best defenseman?

We need Ugly to step it up again, you think Mom and Dad brought the best out of him Wednesday?

I'm looking for the the Craps defense to wave the surrender flag if they experience the same type of game tomorrow. They may be big, but they are slow and other than Mike Green they look like they are stick handling in mud...

one last observation....is there a more chilling experience than listen to the anthem at a Chicago Blackshawks playoff game...only thing that would give me more chills than that is  an 7th game Stanley cup winner in OT on your home ice.

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Waa Waa Waa Craps Suck....

Some funny quotes of the Crapitals crying after the game...

Ovechkin...
"We didn't play our game," Ovechkin said. "I don't want to talk about Varlamov. I don't want to talk about the referees, too. They only had two penalties, it's kind of a joke."
Oh, not enough penalties... What is there some sort of obligatory amount of penalties that has to be given out? See the Penguins have something called Discipline, something that your team has none...

And now Brucey Boy....

"As far as the penalties go, I hope I never hear them complaining about penalties again. I think we might have deserved the [seven] penalties, but they sure as hell deserved more than the [three] that they got.”
Let's kick some crying crapital ass....

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WOOOOOOOOOOO.... The Penguins dominated that game, the Capitals are luck to have gotten to play the extra 10 or so min. Malkin seemed to have found his game, and other than his lucky goal (which versus acted like was pure skill) and a few hits here or there Ovechkin was invisible... Right now the ball is on our court, we have them figured out, we have the momentum, we have to win on Friday....

Anyways..... WOOOOOOOOO

WBS wins in OT

Pens Mark Latestu(1) scored at 4:48 of the first OT to give the WBS a 3-2 victory over Hershey.

Heshey still leads the 2-1 in the series.

Pens Bill Thomas(1) scores PP a little more then 3 mins to go in the game to tie it at 2-2.

Jeff Taffe (4)  also scored for the Pens.

Pens fire 43 shots and Adam Berkhoel was in net for the win...

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Sid's coming out party....

And i'm not talking about the one he had when he was 14... Anyways, after a disappointing start to the series, we need to find something to cling onto to help us keep our hopes up... Throughout the series, Sidney Crosby has hands down been the best player on the ice... Lady Alex is playing well, but due to him not playing "between the highlights" I would say that sidney crosby is playing better... And the fact that the rest of the Pens are doing jack shit, and sid is single handidly keeping us in the series...

Anyways, The lip is showing us what he can do when he is healthy and determined... We can still win this series, we need a win in game 3...

Does everybody recognize that Janne is a valuable player but shero?

Thanks to fellow Janiac Nick for sending over this article from the citizens voice (for entire article click here)... Anyways, the team is really missing Janne's scoring touch in their playoff against the bears.... Luca Caputi has something to say...

“Janne’s Janne. I don’t think there’s anybody who’s going to fill his role or take his spot,” Caputi said. “He’s a special player. I’m just trying to work hard and chip in and do the little things right. That’s my game. My game is to play scrappy and gritty and get my points in front of the net. Janne’s a horse. You’ve enjoyed watching him all year. I’ve enjoyed watching him. I don’t think there’s anyone who can bring what he brings on a nightly basis.”
Man seriously, if the pens don't make every effort possible to keep the J man around then they are crazy... As we have seen during this years SCP, we need some competent wingers and janne might be a low price solution... Anyways more to come... Let's kick some overrated crapital ass...

WBS lose first 2

Didn't get to listen to last night's 5-3 loss to the Bears, todays game wasn't much better. Baby Pens lost 3-1 and now trail 2 games to 0. They now come home for 3 straight starting  Wednesday May 6th. The Bears have out scored us by an 8-4 margin. Pens G man John Curry was pulled after the first period. Pens back-up Adam Berkhoel stopped all 20 shots. Goose scored the only Pens goals late in the game.

Maybe Janne will be ready by game 3....

sloppy first

what was hyped beyond belief, turned into a game of miss chances and tons of mistakes. The lip got us goin in the first, Craps came back with goals by Steckel and The Lady making 2-1 after 1. Pens were dominate in the first 13 mins of the game only to muster Lippy's goal. Little less than midway through the first the Pens ran into the dumbness zone and the result turned into a 5 on 3 PP goal by The Lady. 2-1 Craps

Second period had a lot of action, big saves and a few goal posts by Marc-Andre or The Lady would have a few more goals. For most of the period the Pens were blowing some great opportunities on odd man rushes. Craps rookie Gman Varlamov and MAF was playing well, not to mention the save Varlamov made on The Lip keeping it 2-1. Then a harmless shot and a flat out gift of a goal by our new offensive Juggernaut(2 goals in his last 2 games) defensemen Mark Eaton, new hockey game now, feeling pretty good about our chances, with a now shaky goalie I figured we would own the Craps in the third. 2-2 after 2.

Then a early 3rd period goal by Craps Tom Fleischman was all she wrote for game one. Pens worked in spurts in the 3rd. Final and game 1 to the Craps.

No shows for the Pens today were....

Ugly Malkin(he did have a few descent shifts)....
PP, has been down right horrid(0-5 and had the last 4 in a row)
Wingers once again, W(here are)TF(ing) are the wingers on this team.

Nice game for The Lip, Eaton(has raised his game during the playoffs) and Fleury

Come one guys, Valarmov was giving some big time rebounds that we did nothing with...

Bring up Janne....

Vince's Thoughts: So from my stand point there were both good and bad things about this game. First off, the good is that we kept this game close, and showed that we can play with these guys, i was kind of afraid they would come out and blow us out of the water... Winning 3-2 is nothing near to a decisive win, and they will have to remain on their toes the rest of the series. The bad part about this, which i feel outweighs the good, is we did the one thing that I knew we couldn't afford to do... We gave Valarmov the confidence to know that he can win the game... Though i'm sure there is some bad taste in his mouth about the Eaton goal, overall he faired quite well, and hands down won the crapitals this game... In game 2 we need to come out and make him pay for his mistakes, if we get him doubting himself this series is ours...
