We want the cup....
I love that commercial, it is hands down one of my favorite commercials of all time. Every time i watch it i get a shiver down my spine... Tomorrow, the Penguins quest for the Cup continues... It has been a long year since we were here before, but it seems like it was yesterday.... Last year going into Detroit I admit that I didn't have high hopes, the Penguins were a young team who cruised through several easy contests with less than stellar teams... This year, although we haven't played the greatest teams, I feel like we are a little more battle tested... Last year going down 1 game let alone two was an unheard of concept... In that locker room they had no solid evidence that they could fight through that storm... This year we had two close series', one in which we actually went down 2-0... I am not saying that I am going into this series with glowing confidence that we are win, but I do have confidence that we are better team than last year... and honestly, I do not think the red wings are that much better than they were last year... Whatever, I'm tired of talking about this, watching analysts talk about it, let's just do it already....

Bring it....
It may have been a bad bounce, but Detroit deserved not only to win the series, but the game. It was weird sitting at home basically cheering for Detroit... I want them in the final, I want them healthy, I want blood, and most importantly I WANT THE CUP....
Go Pens...

This time let's get it right...
Woooooo, two years in a row, this year we're gonna finish the job... I'm so happy they touched the trophy, I understand it's tradition and blah blah blah, but hell, not touching the trophy got us nowhere last year... Anyways, the Flower was amazing, he could have easily had a shut out... We got two shitty goals, but sometimes that's all you need... Bring it...
Oh and before i forget...
woooooooo
I can hear her warming up...ITS ALL OVER!!
Finish him...
Believe it or not, in the last two dominating playoff years the pittsburgh penguins weakest link is at their first cracks at eliminating opponents... In their first elimination games the past two years the pens are 1-4... Unlike all those games though, the Pens have absolutely manhandled the Canes all series, and not at one point did I ever feel like the Canes could match up to the Pens...
Who cares, enough speculation, drop the puck, finish him...

Увидимся позже Сергей
See you later Sergei... Via TSN, Sergei Federov is running from the United States to the KHL, as he signed with Evgeni Malkins old club Metallurg Magnitogorsk... Now there are some popular opinions on why he would do this, ending his career in his home country, to play with his younger brother, or to get in on the ground floor of an up and coming hockey league... While these may be the case, I can only assume that the Pens scared him out of the NHL...
Anyways, this is a growing trend in the NHL of our elders jumping ship to the KHL... In my opinion, for the european and russian players with a cup this is the right move... They get to play closer to their family, they get paid more or equal, and they get to play like 30 less games (i am under the assumption that most european leagues are like 50 some games long, correct me if i'm wrong)...
A lot of people think this is going to be a problem, but I won't get worried until we start losing younger talent... This will be very interesting to see what happens with all of this in the future. This is the first sport that really has comparable talent dispersed over such large distances (the only other sport that comes close is soccer, but the US doesn't field that many quality soccer players)... I think the game they had last year with the rangers vs. the champions league (European champion) for the "Victoria Cup" was a step in the right direction, but in the future the NHL will have to field a more quality team (i.e. the NHL champion not a team that lost in 5 games in the second round of the playoffs) like the SC champs...
Any thoughts?

Check the time Cinderella...
1 more win and the Pens are goin dancing with Lord Stanley.... This is very similar to last year, where the Cinderella story flyers seemingly defied the odds to make it to the ECF, only to be overwhelmed by a much better Penguin team... The Cardiac Canes are doing exactly what their name implies, heart attack city... Get out the brooms...
Are you ready?

Back in old form...
Last year in the playoffs marian hossa put up a career high of 26 points, prior to last year he had the reputation of being quite the playoff no show, his point high was when he played with the Sens and he put up 16 points, but only averaged 6.29 points per playoff... Everybody thought that Maid marian shed that reputation last year when he had possibly the best playoff of anybody in a penguin uniform... You would assume he could continue that this year... But no, hossa currently has 7 points (4 goals and 3 assists)... Penguins with more points than him, ShitTank, Silky, Kunitz, Gonchar, BG, Malkin, Crosby and Cooke is tied... Just thought this was interesting, especially with there being so much talk about whether or not the Pens this year are better than last year...
Personally I think we are better... Last years team was great, but when you look at our road to the stanley cup, we didn't really face much adversity... This year both malkin and crosby are playing better, and we have more supporting players playing well... Bring it Hossa...
SM-Liiga star makes Stanley Cup debut...
With Datsyuk injured Finnish superstar Ville Leino made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut with detroit tonight... As of halfway through the 3rd period he has registered 1 shot on goal is even and has around 9 min or ice time... Congratulations Ville, hopefully janne will get this opportunity next year...
Gotta love Miro...

Quote the Janne...
"Pittsburgh is going to be the No. 1 option because I already know the organization and coaches and a lot of players. That would be the No. 1 option, but we’ll see."Hope this is a good sign...
In addition, as per Dave Molonari at the Post-Gazette
I'm sure this will be a hot topic in the Penguins organization up until Free Agency starts...
"He [Pesonen] really adjusted well and, on top of that, is a great guy. He's really well liked by his teammates We'll talk [about bringing him back]. We're definitely not closing the door on it."
"Janne is one special guy, let me tell you. He is a warrior. What a great attitude, and what a superb player. He will do anything for anyone. I’ll tell you, had it not been for his injury sidelining him for almost a month, we’d be in a much better spot right now. We needed him in Games 1 & 2 in Hershey. And that’s not to discredit the rest of our team… they all gave it their very best. I love each and every one of them, and it’s times like these that I hate my job, when you don’t know if you’ll get to see somebody like Janne again. Funny side story: I jumped into their pre-morning-skate soccer game in the Giant Center hallway yesterday morning… and Janne kept serving the ball to me. I am proud to also have been a teammate of his on our bus-ride Nintendo DS Mario Kart games.
Overall, I’m just proud to say I got to know him."
So let us sign Janne, bring him to camp and give him a real chance before the Pens turn him loose. I'm sure that is all he would like too..

Some Janne news and notes...
Second, after the heartbreaking loss, John Bombouile from the Penguins insider had a chance to talk to some penguin UFA's, including Janne... Janne allegedly said that his first choice was to stay with the penguins organization if they want him... I really cannot imagine that both Disco Dan and Ray Shero completely ignored Janne's amazing season, so let's hope this is a good sign..
Go Pens...
Pens vs. Caps... A retrospect... (Also how it should sound version 3....)
Looking back on a roller coaster season it is amazing that we are back in the ECF for the second year in row... I can remember the days when kevin and I were routinely calling for MT's head... Anyways, I was thinking about this today and looking back at our season it seems the caps have had quite the impact on our season. When I think about our mid-season slide, I think back to that game where we were up 4-1 on the caps, and they came back and beat us in regulation... After that game everything was downhill... Ovechkin and his caps sent us into a deadly spiral that had us several spots out of the playoffs and all of us sitting around thinking "maybe next year"... All was going down hill then all the sudden things started looking up... Whether it was finally beating the caps after 5 trys, or Disco Dan coming to save the day, it didn't matter, it seemed everything was up from there....
After that it seemed fitting that it would come down to playing the caps in the playoffs... Now it took 7 games to get the job done, but I think game 7 showed that we were a few bounces away from a sweet, and by far were the better team... We spout this more during the NFL playoffs, but the same holds true in the NHL, defense wins championships, and the Caps had none of it... Mike Green is pretty much all they had, and he had a bad series, maybe he was hurt, maybe he was just off, but he is a good player and I think any penguin fan would agree with me when i say that I hope the dumb ass capitals fans run him out of town like Larry Murphy and Gonchar (Whoop Whoop!) so we can scoop him up...
And on a final note, though their stats show up as the same Sidney Crosby has proven that he is the definitive player in the NHL today... Though Ovechkin put up points and goal, he did nothing in between... Unlike the two Heart candidates in this series, The Lip put the game on his stick and did everything.... He passed the puck, he scored goals, he backchecked, he forechecked, he went into corners, and most importantly he won the series.... Both Carolina and Boston will be tough opponents, but the Pens can take them on, and hopefully after a few games we will be sitting here waiting for our second year in the SCF... It's been a magical ride this year, and I'm glad we can continue this for atleast another series...

Another Episode of How it Should Sound....
Tonight is HUGE.... If anybody reading is, or knows somebody who is going to the game tonight we need the audience to be LOUD AND PROUD tonight... I want to have problems hearing the two FSN stooges tonight... Let's send these pieces of shit to the golf course....

Double Penguin win tonight...
Wow, what a game, I think we have Washingtons number, look for a dominating win Monday night to send the Crapitals to the golf coarse...
I hate Boudreau
"I'd be more concerned with Orpik cross checking Semin in the back of the head. Even though the injury didn't take place that was way more vicious."
This guy was bitching about how the Penguins complain, yet the past two games I have not heard more complaining ever, than from this capitals team... As far as i'm concerned this franchise is garbage, they don't let penguins fans come into their arena (even if they live in DC), they complain about the refs but try to make it look like we're the ones in the wrong, AND in the past two series they have strategically taken out players in game 4... These guys deserve more than losing...

What's the Call...
Personally, I think it deserved more than a 2 min penalty, but a suspension is a bit drastic...
Blogger reporting Sarge out 4-6 weeks...
Glad to see Satan step it up...
Heeee's Back
we'll wrap up the pens game a little later...
It's a Barn Burner....
Ovechkin takes out Gonchar... I still don't know what to think about it... I think the 2 min minor was a little weak, some people are already calling for suspension but don't waste your breath, Ovechkin could stab somebody with a knife on the ice and he'd only get fined...
Whatever, let's kill the rest of this PP, not take any bad penalties, and go back to Washington for a 3 game series...
Janne Driven..
Beagle up...Semin out?
He's Baaaaaaack!!!!

Full Bore...
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Waa Waa Waa Craps Suck....
Ovechkin...
"We didn't play our game," Ovechkin said. "I don't want to talk about Varlamov. I don't want to talk about the referees, too. They only had two penalties, it's kind of a joke."Oh, not enough penalties... What is there some sort of obligatory amount of penalties that has to be given out? See the Penguins have something called Discipline, something that your team has none...
And now Brucey Boy....
"As far as the penalties go, I hope I never hear them complaining about penalties again. I think we might have deserved the [seven] penalties, but they sure as hell deserved more than the [three] that they got.”Let's kick some crying crapital ass....

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WOOOOOOOOOOO.... The Penguins dominated that game, the Capitals are luck to have gotten to play the extra 10 or so min. Malkin seemed to have found his game, and other than his lucky goal (which versus acted like was pure skill) and a few hits here or there Ovechkin was invisible... Right now the ball is on our court, we have them figured out, we have the momentum, we have to win on Friday....
Anyways..... WOOOOOOOOO
WBS wins in OT

Sid's coming out party....
Anyways, The lip is showing us what he can do when he is healthy and determined... We can still win this series, we need a win in game 3...

Does everybody recognize that Janne is a valuable player but shero?
“Janne’s Janne. I don’t think there’s anybody who’s going to fill his role or take his spot,” Caputi said. “He’s a special player. I’m just trying to work hard and chip in and do the little things right. That’s my game. My game is to play scrappy and gritty and get my points in front of the net. Janne’s a horse. You’ve enjoyed watching him all year. I’ve enjoyed watching him. I don’t think there’s anyone who can bring what he brings on a nightly basis.”Man seriously, if the pens don't make every effort possible to keep the J man around then they are crazy... As we have seen during this years SCP, we need some competent wingers and janne might be a low price solution... Anyways more to come... Let's kick some overrated crapital ass...

sloppy first
Vince's Thoughts: So from my stand point there were both good and bad things about this game. First off, the good is that we kept this game close, and showed that we can play with these guys, i was kind of afraid they would come out and blow us out of the water... Winning 3-2 is nothing near to a decisive win, and they will have to remain on their toes the rest of the series. The bad part about this, which i feel outweighs the good, is we did the one thing that I knew we couldn't afford to do... We gave Valarmov the confidence to know that he can win the game... Though i'm sure there is some bad taste in his mouth about the Eaton goal, overall he faired quite well, and hands down won the crapitals this game... In game 2 we need to come out and make him pay for his mistakes, if we get him doubting himself this series is ours...
