WBS 3 Philly Phantoms 2

Janne continues to rack up points scoring two goals in regulation tonight for the Wilkes Barre Baby Penguins... The game also went to a shoot out where both Miro and Janne buried it...

As usual Janne was the 1st star...

Seriously, if they don't make an attempt to resign Janne at this point they'd be kwazy...

Head over to This is Getting Old for some exclusive pics of Janne sportin the Irish Uniforms and burying the game winning goal... Thanks to brad for the heads up...

Awesome. It is so great to see Janne continuing domination.

Also from the post-gazette..

Pesonen sets WBS record
Janne Pesonen had numbers on his side when the Penguins signed him to a one-year contract last summer out of the Finnish Elite League.

He was the reigning scoring champion there with 34 goals, 78 points in 56 games, had helped Karpat win four league championships and was voted playoff MVP in 2007.

So, perhaps it's not surprising that, with two assists Monday against Albany, Pesonen set a club record for points (68), including 24 goals, with the Penguins' American Hockey League affiliate at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

"When he has that attacking [mentality] and goes to the net, he's a real skilled player who expects to be a go-to guy, and that's what he's developed into down there, much like he was in Finland," said Penguins interim coach Dan Bylsma, who coached Pesonen in Wilkes-Barre most of the season.

Pesonen, however, has not made much noise in the NHL.

In six stints with the Penguins this season, he has no points in an average of 7:27 minutes over seven games, mostly on the third and fourth lines.

"It's a bigger, faster game here, the opportunities are fewer and the chance to shoot and show your offensive skill is less, especially as a call-up guy," Bylsma said. "That's the challenge for him. Hopefully, he's opened up enough eyes and he'll stay here another year because I do think he can add at this level."

Satan helps Pesonen
Playing on Pesonen's line Monday when he set that record was Miroslav Satan, the veteran winger who cleared waivers and was reassigned to Wilkes-Barre because of salary cap issues. Satan had a goal and three assists in a 7-2 win that marked his first AHL game since April 1, 1995.

Yeah, idk, with Janne's current production and it looking like Disco Dan might be here to stay, i'm starting to feel better about the J-Man sticking around another year...

I personally would love to see him on Malkins line... Adding another passer to that line would let Malkin concentrate more on shooting the puck...
